For the opening of our new site in Diegem, we turned to the imagination of renowned Belgian artist Luk Van Soom. Known for his monumental sculptures that explore weightlessness, elevation and quite literally, the cloud, his work invites us to look up and think beyond.
Van Soom’s art flirts with gravity, just as our data flows defy it. By blending poetry and structure, he creates sculptures that feel as light as air yet rooted in meaning.
His latest creation, designed specifically for this site, brings a new dimension to the idea of a data center reaching for the clouds.

Welcome and reception
Laurens van Reijen, Managing Director of LCL, setting the context of LCL’s vision, the strategic importance of the new data center, and its role in strengthening a resilient and sustainable digital infrastructure in Europe.
Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracywill share her perspective on technological sovereignty, cloud strategy and the AI Development Act.
Jo Caudron on European strategic autonomy and digital independence, exploring how organisations can navigate technological change and build resilient, future-proof digital ecosystems.
Luk Van Soom introduces the bespoke artwork created for LCL and explains the concept and symbolism behind the piece.
